Ingrid L. Taylor
Writer, Poet, Veterinarian
Ingrid L. Taylor (she/her) is a writer, poet, and veterinarian whose creative work engages with themes of inherited and ongoing trauma to land and community, ecology, ecofeminism, folklore and ritual, disability and mental health awareness, and the other-than-human world. She’s worked in clinical veterinary practice, research, and public health, and she’s passionate about age and body positivity, reconnecting in a nonexploitative way with animals and the other-than-human world, and acknowledging and managing trauma. She lives in the southwestern United States with her partner, Danny, and their animal companions.
Her poetry and fiction have appeared in many publications, including most recently in FERAL: A Journal of Poetry and Art, Horse Egg Literary, Zooscape, and others. Her poem “Mermaids” received Punt Volat Journal’s Annual Poetry Award for 2021. Her nonfiction work has appeared in Sentient Media. She’s currently working on an essay collection about disability, biophilia, and animals, and a poetry collection about ecology and environmental justice conceptualized through powerful folk witches and female archetypes such as Baba Yaga, Brighid, and Lilith. She’s received support for her writing from the Playa Artist Residency, the Horror Writers Association, and Gemini Ink, and she holds an MFA in fiction and nonfiction from Pacific University.
Ingrid is a freelance writer and editor specializing in writing about biology and biomedical science, veterinary science, animals, and environmental compliance. She is a disabled veteran who also writes about health, wellness, ecology, and solidarity with other species from this perspective.
